Meet Candice Garrett 1512 2016 Sara Rosenblit

SGG is comprised of 17 attorneys and a team of experienced paralegals and administrative staff who are devoted to producing excellent work product and client service.  Below is a Q&A with Candice Garett, one of the longest-serving members of the law firm and an attorney in the Investors & Entrepreneurs Practice Group.

Question: What is your educational and professional background?

Answer: I obtained my Bachelor degrees in Political Science and African American Studies with minors in Economics and History from Loyola Marymount University in 2004. In June 2006, I obtained my paralegal certificate from West Los Angeles College. I earned my J.D. from Loyola Law School in May 2010 while working full-time and having a few children along the way.

Question: How long have you been working at SGG?

Answer: I’ve been working at SGG for 12 years.

Question: What roles have you held at the firm?

Answer: Just about every position the firm has had. I was fortunate to join SGG when the law firm was first starting out. I started as a receptionist in February 2006, transitioned to a paralegal while I was in law school, and became an attorney in December 2010. I am a member of the Investor & Entrepreneurs Practice Group and am responsible for supervising the Group’s paralegal staff.

Question: Why do you like working at SGG?

Answer: Quite simply, the people. At SGG I found that I was supported not only by supervisors but my colleagues as well. Over these past 12 years, I have built great friendships that will last beyond our terms of employment. Professionally, I have been afforded many opportunities for growth and development, whether related to subject matter experience or professional associations.

Question: What makes SGG a unique and special firm?

Answer: The flexibility of our work hours. As a working parent, having the flexibility to make adjustments to my work hours is such a gift. I can attend my children’s school performances in the middle of the day or leave early enough to pick my children up from school without having to worry if it will be held against me. SGG promotes a work-life balance that allows you to feel like a whole person.
