Hiring for Immigration Legal Assistant

Stone Grzegorek & Gonzalez LLP seeks an experienced immigration legal assistant who enjoys a fast-paced practice to support attorneys in our Family & Removal Practice Group.

Essential Functions and Requirements

The ideal candidate:

  1. Must have experience with consular processing forms and preparing the following petitions: I-751, I-130; I-360 (VAWA, SIJS) I-601, I-589, I-129F, N-400, and I-485.
  2. Must have experience with Immigration court filings (including EOIR-42B, I-589 and motions) and be proficient in proof of service requirements.
  3. Will assist legal staff with case compilation, file maintenance, case filings, copying and data entry.
  4. Will be able to fluently translate Spanish-language documentation and interpret for Spanish-speaking clientele.
  5. Will handle frequent client in-person, written, and phone communication.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree or Paralegal certificate; Bachelor’s Degree preferred (English, History or Social Sciences)
  • 2+ years’ experience in family based immigration and/or removal defense
  • Fluent in English and Spanish

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate will work in a team-oriented environment alongside other business immigration attorneys and staff, analyzing cases as well as supporting and advising clients in immigration program management and compliance.  The experienced attorney will be responsible for the accurate and timely filing of petitions and applications and may supervise the work of paralegal staff in document preparation.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a business immigration attorney.

Essential Functions

Assist legal staff with file prep as well as filing, scanning, copying, mailing, and data entry.  As directed, email and follow-up with client initial questionnaires. Website research as needed.  Progressive responsibilities maybe assigned as skill set is developed.

  • A college degree and law firm experience are strongly preferred
